A Delaware County grand jury indicted a Delaware man Friday in connection with an explosive that was detonated under a police car in July 2015.

Robert Vincent Jones II, 18, of 719 Fern Drive, was indicted on two felony counts of unlawful possession of dangerous ordnance/illegally manufacturing or processing explosives; and one charge of vandalism, also a fifth-degree felony.

Delaware police report the charges stem from a July 1 incident when damage from a small explosion was discovered on the underside of a police car sitting in the police department parking lot. The explosion apparently occurred overnight and was not heard by any witnesses.

Police said they created a suspect list and witness statements led them to Jones.

No one was injured in the explosion but the car was taken out of service for repairs.

An arraignment for Jones has not been scheduled. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
