Pizza ‘wordzels’

Doug Germann’s 25 gifted third- and fourth-grade students at Big Walnut Elementary and Harrison Street Elementary had a taste of commercial graphic design recently. The students designed what Germann calls “wordzels” – puzzles made up of words, with creative typography suggesting the answers to the puzzles – that were printed on placemats used at the Sunbury Pizza Hut restaurant. Last week, several of the students and their families showed up at Pizza Hut for the official launch of the placemats – and some pizza, of course.
