The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting Delaware area residents to participate in the Alzheimer’s Association “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” on Saturday, Aug. 13, at Ohio Wesleyan University, outside Hamilton-Williams Campus Center.

Registration opens at 8 a.m., and the walk begins at 9 a.m. This is a new date, time and location for the Delaware walk this year, organizers say.

“With someone in the U.S. developing Alzheimer’s every 66 seconds, we know that the time is now to act,” said Vince McGrail, executive director and CEO of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Central Ohio Chapter. “The ‘Walk to End Alzheimer’s’ provides a meaningful opportunity for togetherness for those affected by this devastating disease and allows us to provide care and support to those who need it now while advancing critically needed research.”

Walk participants will also honor those affected by Alzheimer’s disease with the “Promise Garden” ceremony.

Nancy Enciso, executive director at The Inn at Bear Trail, is walk co-chair this year.

Heidi Reed, director of assisted living at Willow Brook Christian Village, is also co-chair. She got involved because she said the walk is a good way for her to make a difference.
