The Olentangy Liberty boys golf team authored its second first-place performance in as many days, winning the first OCC-Buckeye Division event of the season with a solid 294 Tuesday at Turnberry.
The Patriots got solid contributions up and down the lineup, but Kyle Mitchell’s 69 set the tone.
“It was nice to see him bounce back after yesterday,” Liberty coach Ryan Snivley said. “He is going to be a great leader for our team this season.”
Mitchell shot a 77 in Monday’s inaugural Patriot Cup at Kinsale — an event his team won with a combined 304.
Ronnie Foth (73), Trey Rath (75), Cole Corder (77) and Jacob Hickman (80) also contributed to Tuesday’s league win.
Olentangy, which has also been hot to start the season, finished second with a 307. Matthew Homza led the Braves with a 73 while Garrett Varanelli (75), Ben Nash (78), Cameron Casto (81) and Garrett Leckrone (84) also chipped in.
Orange ensured an all-Olentangy top three by finishing third with a 313. Spencer Gifford boosted the Pioneers with a solid 71 while Alex Cabungcal shot a 77, Connor Cummins carded an 80 and Nate and Sam English finished with 85s.
The three Westerville schools, North, South and Central, smoothed out the scoring summary.
OCC-Capital Division
Austin Schone fired a 76 to lead Big Walnut to a second-place finish during Tuesday’s OCC-Capital Division event at Clover Valley.
Other BW scorers included Henry von Hollen (79), Parker Imertreijs and Connor Walzak (82).
New Albany won the event with a 299.
