
Both lanes of traffic on U.S. 23 were blocked Tuesday morning after a car accident sent two people to the hospital.
Delaware police report that around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Jessica L. Shroats, 28, of Marion, was driving a 1999 Toyota sedan north on U.S. 23 north of Hillsmiller Road when she went left of center and struck a 2013 Lincoln SUV driven by Deanna L. Harris, 48, of Vermillion, Ohio, who was traveling south on U.S. 23.
Police report both drivers were transported by medics to Riverside Methodist Hospital to be treated for injuries.
Police said they did not believe the injuries would be life-threatening Tuesday afternoon.
The vehicles were both disabled and towed from the scene. No charges have been filed as the crash remains under investigation.
U.S. 23 traffic was backed up into downtown Delaware while officers worked to clear the road, opening a few lanes at a time before the scene was cleared just after noon Tuesday.
