Brown Fruit Farm program slated

T.K. Cellar will present A Pictorial Overview of the Brown Fruit Farm on Monday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Powell Liberty Historical Society’s Martin-Perry House located on Powell Road at Grace Drive.

Cellar is a descendant of the earliest settlers in Liberty Township. His grandfather was foreman of the fruit farm in what is now Highbanks Metro Park.

Scioto Ridge to host Veterans Day celebration

Scioto Ridge Elementary School, 8715 Big Bear Ave., in Powell will host a Veterans Day celebration on Friday that includes a breakfast and musical performances honoring veterans and their service. The musical performances will take place during an assembly that features a presentation written by Scioto Ridge students. Veterans will join students in their classrooms to speak directly with them about their military experiences.

Olentangy students to present inventions

Four Olentangy STEM students will showcase their innovative creations during the Ohio School Board Association’s Student Achievement Fair in Columbus on Nov. 15. The Olentangy students were selected to participate based on items they made while attending the Olentangy Academy.

Jonathon Lee created an electric viola using his own materials and the STEM program’s fab lab machines. Gracie Murray used JavaScript to create a looped animation with a rocket ship, moon and sun. Lexie Brengartner and Sydney Gray designed, built and tested a mouse emulator for a 6th grade student with very limited mobility.

Retired teachers luncheon planned

The Delaware County Retired Teachers Association Winter Luncheon will be held Friday, Dec. 2, at noon in the Summit room, Willow Brook at Delaware Run, 100 Delaware Crossing, Delaware. Program includes Lafferty Pike, a bluegrass band plus a silent auction. Cost for lunch is $12.
