Gourmet Farm Girl’s chili featured at Kroger

A Delaware resident will have one of her signature products on display at a major grocery chain this weekend.

The Columbus Kroger division will be sampling Buckeye Chili produced by The Gourmet Farm Girl at 32 locations, spanning from Wheeling, West Virginia, to Lambertville, Michigan, from Dec. 16-19.

Deborah Mahon, founder of The Gourmet Farm Girl, is the definition of an authentic farm girl. She was born and raised on a dairy and grain farm which her family settled during the 1830s. The farm, located in Bucyrus, has been in her family for seven generations.

This is the first time a local product has been selected to be sampled via Kroger’s outsourced demo company within multiple Kroger locations, during a simultaneous time frame. The reason for this is quality and true goodness of the product, Mahon said.

Growing farm fresh produce is Mahon’s way of life. She has incorporated this passion for gardening and cooking into her Company, The Gourmet Farm Girl, which launched in 2010.

Her success comes from “creating, sustaining and growing her loyal customer base because of the nourishing, all-natural soups, chilies and seasoning blends she produces.”

From the onset of sharing recipes and subsequently self-publishing The Gourmet Farm Girl Cookbook, Mahon’s priority and commitment has been to wholesome, all-natural, preservative-free, gluten-free foods.

“The soups, chilies and seasoning blends are uniquely packaged in glass jars, which allow the customer to see the quality of the fresh ingredients, along with the vibrant colors,” Mahon said.

Mahon has a diverse background, spanning retail, insurance, publishing and food service. She credits that with giving her “a vast knowledge to create her solid business foundation.”

She has a strong selling relationship with the Delaware Community Market and took part in the Delaware Farmers Market for three years. The Greater Gouda in downtown sells some of her items.

“I believe in good food from the heart.”
