Hailey Krinn homered and drove in three, Jojo Lucas had three hits and three RBI, Karley Becker knocked in four and Molly Sharpe and Alyssa Tarney each scored three times to lead the Big Walnut softball team to a 16-5 five-inning win over the visiting Braves Monday afternoon in Sunbury.
Big Walnut (2-0) led 12-0 after the first inning and cruised from there. After Olentangy (2-4) got on the board with all five of its runs in the second, BW answered with two more in the bottom half and another pair of runs in the third.
Autumn Imhoff picked up the win in the circle, allowing five runs on seven hits while striking out four and walking two.
Olivia Davidson led the Braves at the plate with a homer and two RBI.
Delaware Hayes 13, Hilliard Darby 6
Laiha Slayton had a pair of homers, drove in four and scored four more to lead the Pacers to a league-opening win over the host Panthers Monday in Hilliard.
The Pacers (4-2) scored in each of their first four trips to the plate, including a five-run first to set the tone.
Lexi Mattix backed Slayton with four hits while Chloe Barton had three to go with two RBI and two runs scored.
Haley Osborne earned the win in the circle, allowing six runs on 11 hits while striking out eight.
Olentangy Liberty 13, Dublin Coffman 2, 5 inn.
The Patriots put plenty of crooked numbers on the board Monday, plating three in the first inning, four in the third and six in the fourth to roll to a non-league win over the visiting Shamrocks.
Katelyn Wilhelm, who struck out 12 en route to the complete-game win in the cirlce, also helped herself from the plate. She finished a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Liberty’s Dani Schoenly, Kaitlyn Leary and Lindsey Leeds were steady as well, finishing with two hits apiece.
Dublin Scioto 15, Olentangy Berlin 7
The Bears swung the bats pretty well, collecting 13 hits, but six errors in the field hurt as they dropped Monday’s league opener against the host Irish.
Berlin’s (0-3) Blythe Beaumont had three hits and two RBI while Kirsten Kracht, Lexie Lewis and Allie Burkhart had two hits each in the setback.
BOYS TENNIS
Big Walnut picked up a solid road win Monday, knocking off host Worthington Christian 4-1.
Golden Eagle winners included Gabe Mexicott (6-3, 3-6, 1-0 at first singles), Grant Mudre (6-1, 6-3 at third singles), Sebastian Kirkpatrick and Devon McCullough (6-3, 6-1 at first doubles) and the duo of Andrew Grubb and Charlie Jaeger (6-0, 6-3 at second doubles).
Gahanna 3, Delaware Hayes 2
Kyle Klumpp (6-3, 6-2 at first singles) and Sam Bonofiglio (6-1, 6-0 at second singles) picked up wins to lead the Pacers in Monday’s non-league loss to the Lions.
