Mitchell Okuley finished 3-for-3 with a pair of triples, two RBI and two runs scored to lead the Olentangy Liberty baseball team to a 6-1 win over Canal Winchester in a Division I district semifinal Monday at Hilliard Darby.
The fourth-seeded Patriots broke the scoring seal with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Okuley started things with the first of his two triples and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of AJ Rausch.
The 21st-seeded Indians answered with a run of their own in the second, but Liberty controlled things the rest of the way, scoring the final five runs of the game.
Justin Nelson backed Okuley with a pair of hits while Brennan Rowe allowed just one run en route to collecting the complete-game win on the mound. He gave up six hits while striking out seven.
Next up, Liberty will take on seventh-seeded Upper Arlington in Wednesday’s district championship at Dublin Coffman High School. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.
