Liberty Township’s Community Improvement Corporation — Living in Liberty — will host its second annual Liberty Lift-Off Hot Air Balloon Festival and Game Day with Buckeye Football Alumni on Oct. 8-9.
Liberty Lift-Off is planning on 10-plus hot air balloon teams launching flights over Powell, Liberty Township and beyond. Rides and the launches will begin at approximately 7 a.m. on 5 p.m. on Oct. 8th and at 7 a.m. on Oct. 9, weather permitting. The public is invited to purchase a ticket for a ride or come to Liberty Park to watch the launches.
In conjunction with this event, Living in Liberty will host a “game day” event at Liberty Park with Buckeye football alumni starting at 2:45 p.m. before kick off of the Ohio State vs. Michigan State game at 4 p.m. on Oct. 8. The panel will include Stanley Jackson, John Cooper, Dee Miller and Ty Howard. The game will be available to view in Liberty Park.
“I am excited to see the Liberty Lift-Off take flight for the second year. Last year, we received such great community support with the spectacular sites of the hot air balloons over Liberty and Powell and beyond,” said Rick Karr, board chair of Living in Liberty. “This event will be a great time for residents to experience a hot air balloon ride, if they choose, while providing a family-friendly atmosphere for spectators to enjoy the Buckeye game and our own version of game day in Liberty Park.”
The game day event is free for spectators and will feature food trucks, craft drinks and more. Spectators are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets.
