The Delaware County Historical Society (DCHS) announced March 29 details for the organization’s latest community program: Railroads of Delaware County, a free offering taking place at The Barn at Stratford (2690 Stratford Road, Delaware) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19.

The program will feature guest speaker and railroad expert, Jack Hilborn, and guest panelists Peter White and Paul Monks. All are members and volunteers of the society. The program includes discussion of the history of railroads and interurbans in Delaware County. Participants will hear local stories, see a collection of photographs from the DCHS collection and learn from a panel moderated by DCHS volunteer Steve Schmitt.

“Local history lovers and railroad enthusiasts are invited to attend this interesting history program to learn and share stories from Delaware County,” said Donna Meyer, DCHS executive director. “Accompanied by photos and information from our extensive DCHS archives and incorporating historical anecdotes from recognizable landmarks, such as the Big Four station on Lake Street in Delaware, our volunteers have created another engaging opportunity to learn more about our shared history.”
