Bishop track teams close 3rd at Wooster Invitational

The 800-meter relay team of senior Liberty Brock, freshman Amarah McPhaul, junior Sarah Mazzei, and senior Addystin Lykins won its event to lead the Ohio Wesleyan women’s track & field team at the Wooster Indoor Invitational, hosted by The College of Wooster on Saturday in Wooster.

Wittenberg won the meet with 191 points to 105 for Wooster. Ohio Wesleyan finished third with 73 points and Oberlin was fourth with 54 points.

The 800-meter relay team broke the tape in 1:50.94.

Other top-three performers for the Bishops included sophomore Claire Coleman, who placed second in the pole vault; senior Mila Noel, who was second in the shot put; freshman Brianna Montgomery, who finished second in the mile run; and junior Ashley Beatty, who placed third in the mile run.

Other standouts included freshman Addie Beck, who was fourth in the pole vault; senior Lizzi Nagy, who placed fourth in the weight throw; sophomore Emma Hall, who finished fifth in the shot put and sixth in the weight throw; sophomore Celeste Swihart, who finished fifth in the pole vault; sophomore Hazel Jolliff, who placed sixth in the 60-meter hurdles; sophomore Phoebe Dreschel, who was seventh in the shot put and eighth in the weight throw; freshman Sarah Youngquist, who placed seventh in the pole vault; and senior Jocelyn Weaver, who was seventh in the 60-meter hurdles.

MEN’S TRACK & FIELD

Freshman Jayson Dyer won an event to lead Ohio Wesleyan at the Wooster Indoor Invitational, hosted by The College of Wooster on Saturday in Wooster.

Wittenberg won the meet with 145½ points to 141½ for Wooster. Ohio Wesleyan finished third with 113 points and Oberlin was fourth with 83 points.

Dyer won the 60-meter hurdles in :09.15.

The Bishop 800-meter relay team of freshman Joel Adade, freshman Alex Stoller, freshman Elias Simpkins, and freshman Dylan Harper won its event in 1:33.80.

Other top-three showings belonged to sophomore Mack Fincham, who was second in the 60-meter hurdles and seventh in the high jump; freshman Connor Smith, who placed second in the high jump; sophomore Chinedu Melenu, who was third in the triple jump and fifth in the 60-meter hurdles; freshman Michael Strange, who finished third in the 60-meter hurdles; senior Zach Donley, who was third in the 200-meter dash.

Other top point producers included Stoller, who placed fourth in the 400-meter dash; Adade, who was fourth in the 60-meter dash; sophomore Joaquim Bila, who finished fourth in the 200-meter dash; sophomore Griffin Sawyer, who tied for fourth in the pole vault; senior Antonio Sonego, who placed fifth in the shot put and sixth in the weight throw; Simpkins, who finished fifth in the 60-meter dash; junior Mason Myers, who finished sixth in the long jump; sophomore Andrew Bentz, who placed sixth in the shot put; freshman Alex Bzdafka, who was seventh in the pole vault; and Harper, who placed eighth in the high jump.
