GALENA — Berkshire Township is abuzz with activity along Wilson Road and state Route 37.

“In the last couple months three large projects that were approved in 2021 have broken ground,” the township said in its Fall Newsletter.

First is Camping World, just east of Interstate 71 and adjacent to Wilson Road behind the Flying J. It will be the sixth Ohio location for what is said to be the nation’s largest recreational vehicle retailer.

“Sitting on nearly 20 acres, Camping World will have an over 40,000-square-foot building which will house their dealership offices, retail items and shop area for light repairs,” the township said. “Camping World offers a wide range of new and used RVs from top manufacturers, in addition to a full assortment of RV and outdoor products and accessories. … This location will create a number of new jobs when up and running.”

NorthStar Apartments are along Wilson Road to the northeast of I-71 and U.S. Route 36/SR 37.

“This complex on 20+ acres will contain 240 1 bedroom/1 bathroom up to 2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms units, garages and a clubhouse,” Berkshire said in its newsletter. “The site plan preserves existing trees on the north portion of the site and will provide a wet basin in the southwest corner. All open space is owned and maintained by NorthStar Residential Development LLC who also provides trash removal, lawn mowing and landscape and property maintenance. Units should be available for rent in 2023.”

The third project is the Berkshire Crossing housing development east of Wilson Road and west of Galena Road.

“A 100-unit residential subdivision including a fully amenitized club house and pool with home values from the upper $300,000s,” the newsletter said. “These units are entirely for-rent, exclusively owned, managed and controlled by AMH Development pursuant to a homeowner’s association. AMH hopes to attract residents new to Central Ohio who are relocating for work purposes, those not yet in a position to purchase a home or those who simply do not wish to own a home. This project is estimated to create approximately 100 jobs and the first homes are expected to be ready for occupancy in 2023.”

In anticipation of the growth in Berkshire Township, there is road work going on nearby.

The Delaware County Engineer’s Office said Carter’s Corner Road (north of U.S. 36/SR 37 to Rosecrans Road) and Domigan Road (south of U.S. 36/SR 37 to Cheshire Road) will be closed through Nov. 7 as part of a road widening and reconstruction project.

Those driving along U.S. 36/SR 37 will note that it is down to a single lane for the time being, causing long delays eastbound and westbound at a temporary stop light.
