A top Ohio Wesleyan University administrator has been placed on leave.

Martin Eisenberg, the university’s dean of academic affairs, was placed on administrative leave for unspecified reasons Monday, the university announced to faculty and staff by email.

“With this change, we will take time to evaluate the role of dean of academic affairs and engage in thoughtful discussion about how to utilize the dean’s position to most effectively benefit our students and our campus,” the email reads.

Dale Swartzentruber, associate provost, will fill Eisenberg’s seat on the university’s academic policy committee.

Eisenberg was appointed to his position in July 2013.

He previously served as interim dean of the school of arts and letters, associate provost, and associate professor of economics at Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo.
