Church to host ‘Trunk or Treat’

Sunbury United Methodist Church will host its annual “Village Harvest Festival and Trunk or Treat” at the church, 100 W. Cherry St., Saturday, Oct. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The event is hosted by the church’s Children’s Ministry Team and SUM Teens.

This is a free event for the entire community.

Family events will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. At 7 p.m., the children can go “trunk or treating” when they receive Halloween candy from the backs of vehicles gathered in the lower-level parking lot. Family-friendly costumes will make the event enjoyable for children of all ages, organizers say.

Indoor activities will include games, a puppet show, a “make-n-take” craft, and a complimentary photo. Homemade chili and beverages will be available. Goody bags will be provided.

Outdoor activities will feature a bonfire, open fire pits for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows, popcorn, hayrides, a pumpkin patch, and the BST&G Fire District’s equipment. The evening will come to a close with the popular Trunk-or-Treat activity.

In the event of inclement weather, many of the outdoor activities, including Trunk-or-Treat, will be moved indoors.
