P.E.O. Chapter CW in Delaware awards scholarship

The Delaware Chapter CW recently sponsored Amanda Stewart to receive a grant award of $1,000 through the P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education.

The grant award program offers financial assistance to women whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to resume studies due to changing demands in their lives, according to chapter officials.

Stewart is seeking a master’s of theology degree at the University of Dayton. She entered the second year of her master’s program this fall. “Our chapter is pleased to present this award to Amanda,” Chapter CW president Joy Kaser said.

Before entering the University of Dayton, Stewart had a part-time position at Ohio Wesleyan University in the chaplain’s office. Stewart’s undergraduate degree in Spanish enabled her to spend a year volunteering at a children’s home in El Salvador.

P.E.O. Chapter CW is one of 143 chapters in Ohio and about 6,000 local chapters in the United States and Canada with nearly a quarter of a million active members.

Chapter CW’s mission is to assist women with their educational goals and is the primary philanthropy of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

Last year the chapter created a packet of information about its scholarships and grants and visited school counselors in all four school districts in Delaware County, plus several private schools; Ohio Wesleyan University; Delaware Columbus State; and Methesco Seminary.

For more information, the executive office is at 3700 Grand Ave., Des Moines, Iowa 50312-2899.
