A Lewis Center man pleaded guilty in court to unlawful sexual conduct with a minor Monday afternoon and confessed to sleeping with a 14-year-old.
Spencer Robert Wilson, 21, of 8747 Clarksdale Drive, Lewis Center, appeared in Delaware County Common Pleas Court Monday afternoon and entered a guilty plea to one charge of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, which is a fourth-degree felony.
Wilson had previously entered a not-guilty plea to two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor but, after reaching an agreement with prosecutors, he pleaded guilty to one of the charges. As a condition of the agreement, the second charge was dismissed.
Also as a condition of the negotiations, prosecutors and Wilson’s attorney, Joseph Landusky, will jointly recommend that Wilson be sentenced to probation.
Common Pleas Judge David Gormley informed Wilson that he could still be sentenced to prison time since Gormley is not obligated to follow the recommendation of the plea agreement.
Gormley said Wilson could be sentenced to between six and 18 months in prison.
Wilson will also be required to register as a sex offender.
Wilson told Gormley that the offense occurred on June 8 when he was in contact with a 14-year-old girl and then took her to his house to engage in sexual conduct. Wilson said he was aware of her age at the time of the crime. Wilson was 20 at the time.
Gormley accepted his guilty plea and ordered a pre-sentence investigation be conducted.
A sentencing hearing was scheduled for Jan. 25 at 10 a.m.
