Teen job fairs planned at Delaware County libraries

Delaware County teens looking for employment this summer can begin their search at one of the Delaware County District Library’s teen job fairs, according to library officials.

Employers who hire students ages 16 and up will be at two separate job fairs this month at the Delaware main library and the Orange branch library.

Teens can apply, interview and meet employers at the Orange branch, 7171 Gooding Blvd., on Monday, March 21, and at the Delaware main library, 84 E. Winter St., on Thursday, March 31. Both fairs are an open house format and teens can arrive any time between 6 and 7:30 p.m.

“Teens in Delaware County are looking for work for many reasons,” said teen librarian Becky Woodruff. “Some use it to bulk up their resumes, others like earning their own personal spending money, and others use it as a way to get real world experience in a field that interests them. We hope that these job fairs will help make it easier for interested teens to find the facilities that hire at their age.”

This is the fifth year for the library’s teen job fair, and the second year to host it at two locations within the library system. Each year the attendance grows and employers have an opportunity to see more than 100 teens in one stop.

“Businesses use these job fairs as an opportunity to collect resumes, but also as a way to do quick, on-the-spot interviews of interested job applicants,” said teen librarian Mandy Henning. “We suggest that teens come prepared with their resumes and a sharp mind for any employers offering interviews at the site.”

Employers attending include Subway, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, the YMCA, At the Core, Chick-fil-A, Raising Cane’s, Wendy’s, Five Guys and Willow Brook Christian Communities. Employers wishing to participate may still reserve space by submitting their information at bit.do/teenjobfair or by emailing [email protected].
