The Delaware Hayes baseball team overwhelmed Eastmoor Academy 24-1 in its home opener Friday night.

“We knew coming in that we might have a little bit of an advantage, but we didn’t settle,” Pacers coach Ryan Montgomery said. “(The win) gets our confidence up heading into the OCC.”

Hayes (2-1) put a 17-spot on the board in the third inning, which followed a five-run first and a two-run second.

Mason W. Davis drove in five runs on the strength of four hits and scored four times to lead the offense. Connor King drove in three runs, had two hits and scored twice.

Pacer starter Sam Midura tossed three shutout innings and struck out four to pick up the win. Offensively, he had two runs batted in on two hits with three runs scored.

Ryan Daughenbaugh had two hits, drove in two and scored twice while Josh Allen had two hits, two runs batted in and two runs scored and Mason J. Davis had two hits, two runs batted in and a run scored.

Jeff Ushry drove in Gabe Barnes, who took the loss, in the fourth inning to get Eastmoor (0-2) on the board.

Delaware opens OCC-Capital action at home against Worthington Kilbourne Monday at 5 p.m.
