Podiatric practice opens in Sunbury

Foot & Ankle Specialists of Central Ohio has offices in Gahanna, Newark, Pataskala and now in Sunbury at 65 E. Granville St. – the former Sunbury post office building.

The Sunbury Foot & Ankle Specialists office is home to Dr. Amanda Quisno, a graduate of Baldwin Wallace University and the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine.

Quisno, who is at the Sunbury Foot & Ankle Specialists on Tuesdays and Thursdays, said that as a patient base builds, her Sunbury office hours will move to full time.

“We’re really excited to be here in Sunbury,” Quisno said during an interview in her office last week. “It’s been busy for being open only for the past couple of weeks. This is a great location on Sunbury Village Square, and now we can serve patients who find it inconvenient to travel to Columbus for podiatric care.”

Quisno said Foot & Ankle Specialists of Central Ohio provides comprehensive care of foot and ankle disorders, non-surgical treatment of athletic injuries, reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, work-related injuries, biomechanical analysis and functional orthotic fabrication, and fits diabetic shoes and insoles.

“We provide all aspects of foot and ankle care,” Quisno said. “We have extensive training in foot and ankle surgery and reconstruction, in addition to sprains, fractures and broken bones of the foot. One of the big things we’re seeing a lot of is diabetic patients.”

Quisno said Foot & Ankle Specialists of Central Ohio treats all disorders from the middle of the leg down in children of all ages, adults and geriatric patients. Also becoming more common, with the popularity of school athletic programs, are youth athletic injuries.

The list of potential foot and ankle disorders Quisno cited is almost endless – fungus (athlete’s foot), arch disorders, arthritis, bunions, calluses and corns, flat feet, gout, hammertoes, heel pain, skin conditions, tendinitis and warts.

When it comes to athletic injuries, Quisno said she has a first-hand understanding of the patient’s need to recover and return to the field or court. She was a basketball, volleyball and track athlete in high school, and volleyball and track in college.

“We have digital X-ray in our office, and cast orthotics,” Quisno said. “And I’m on staff at Grant Hospital and St. Ann’s; both have great state-of-the-art surgical facilities.

“Our staff at our new Sunbury office is fantastic, and our accessibility is awesome,” Quisno added. “If you have any questions, we’re very accessible. Call or log on to our online patient portal. Patients can even schedule appointments online.”

Quisno said Foot & Ankle Specialists of Central Ohio does not run a production-line medical office and that plenty of time is spent with patients, getting to know their needs and addressing their concerns.

Quisno will see patients on Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to noon and on Thursdays from 1 to 5 p.m. The office is staffed Monday through Friday by a receptionist for appointment scheduling. Appointments can be made by calling 614-939-9330 or 740-344-8286.
