The Delaware Rotary Club will host a pub-crawl style “Taste of Downtown Delaware” on Wednesday, June 15, from 5 to 8:30 p.m., to benefit the Delaware County Hunger Alliance and the Delaware Rotary Foundation.
Eight to 10 downtown restaurants will offer examples of their specialties, and participants will be encouraged to sample multiple restaurants to find new favorites.
At this writing, five participating locations have been confirmed: Son of Thurman, Backstretch Bar, Sarah Moore Community, Restoration Brew Worx and Choffey’s.
Tickets will go on sale May 9, at $30 before the event and $35 on event day. They will be available from members of the Delaware Rotary Club and at the Delaware Area Chamber of Commerce office at 32 S. Sandusky St.
“We’re very pleased to be sponsoring this first-time event,” said Mike Miller, chair of the Delaware Rotary Club’s fundraising committee. “It’s a great way to introduce people to the wonderful variety and high quality of the restaurants we have within just a few blocks downtown.”
The Delaware County Hunger Alliance is a coalition of 16 local agencies working together to alleviate hunger in the community. The alliance is committed to growing local capacity to serve the community in an efficient way that honors the intent of its donors and the dignity of its clients. The Delaware County Rotary Foundation supports local Rotary projects which honor local educators, provide annual scholarships to local students, participate in an international student exchange, support youth leadership and distribute dictionaries to all third-graders.
“The Taste is a classic win-win-win situation,” Miller added. “People find out about restaurants they may never have tried, the restaurants get to show off, and two very worthy local causes benefit.”
Besides event tickets, there are sponsorship opportunities for local businesses. Sponsors will receive tickets to the event, publicity on event materials, and will be able to include materials in the gift bag each participant will be offered.
