Asbury Arts Series concludes Sunday

The Asbury Arts Series will bring its 2015-20 season of arts events to a close on Sunday, May 15, at 3 p.m. with a concert by mezzo soprano Marilyn Nims and pianist Robert Nims.

Titled “As Time Goes By: Songs to Mark the Miles,” the program uses works drawn primarily from American art song and musical theater repertoire to portray the innocence and joys of infancy through the emotions and acts of youthful years, middle age and, finally, life’s waning years, say organizers.

Marilyn and Robert Nims, both retired Ohio Wesleyan University professors of voice, are familiar to Delaware audiences from their numerous performances over the years on the OWU campus and at various other local venues, say organizers. They have also been active as soloists with a variety of symphonic organizations, opera companies and professional choral groups throughout the state and beyond.

Sunday’s concert will be presented at Asbury United Methodist Church, 55 W. Lincoln Ave.

The concert is offered to the public without charge, though an offering to help with the series’ expenses will be received, say organizers.
