The American Cancer Society 2016 Relay For Life of Big Walnut will take place on Friday, June 3, from 6 p.m. until midnight on Sunbury Village Square.

The public is invited to join hundreds of volunteers and participants at this community event to celebrate cancer survivors, remember those lost to the disease, and take action to finish the fight against cancer, say organizers.

Cancer survivor registration will begin at 4:15 p.m. with a light supper. Register on the west side of Sunbury Town Hall.

The opening ceremony, which includes a special “Survivors and Caregivers Lap,” will begins at 6:15 p.m., followed by laps for local and county officials, and a team lap.

A luminaria ceremony to honor cancer survivors and remember those lost to cancer will be at 10 p.m.

The closing ceremony will be at 11:30 p.m.

All money raised during Relay For Life events goes to the American Cancer Society.

Area residents may continue to contribute to the 2016 Relay For Life of Big Walnut total via their favorite teams until the relay season ends in August.
