The Delaware General Health District’s Keep Delaware County Beautiful program needs the community’s help to nominate individuals, groups and businesses who have made an impact in protecting and preserving the county’s environment. The award recipients will be recognized at the annual KDCB ceremony in December, according to a news release.
The awards are as follows:
Beautification Award goes to a recipient who has contributed to maintaining or restoring an area to make it more aesthetically pleasing.
Business Award goes to a business that participates or in some way makes a positive contribution in the areas of recycling, litter prevention or solid waste management in Delaware County.
Community Stewardship Award goes to an individual or group that has taken some special action to improve the environment in a neighborhood or community.
Litter Prevention Award goes to an individual or group that has done an outstanding job of removing litter from a public place that needed a little “extra” attention.
Recycling Award recognizes outstanding effort or action that contributes significantly toward the success of recycling in Delaware County.
Environmental Education Award goes to a teacher or non-formal educator who instills in those they teach a love for the environment.
The Garrison-Brown award was named for the late Charlotte Garrison and former Village of Ashley Mayor Janet Brown. Both women were former KDCB committee members, who, by their own initiative, formed a planning committee to beautify Ashley. This award recognizes significant initiative in environmental contribution to the community.
Nomination packets can be located at DelawareHealth.org. Individuals submitting nominations are encouraged to include pictures of the project, letters of support from other community members or documentation of the projects’ impacts/improvement.
All submissions must be turned in by 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3. Submissions may be e-mailed to Jenifer Way-Young at [email protected] or dropped off or mailed to the Delaware General Health District at 1 W. Winter St., Delaware, OH 43015.
