Delaware man killed in crash on U.S. 42

A Delaware man was killed in an accident Thursday night on U.S. 42 North.

City of Delaware Police report that at approximately 8:42 p.m. Alexander Sosa, of Lehigh Acres, Florida was driving his gold 2007 Freightliner south on U.S. 42 North in the area of the Delaware County Jail when he saw a railroad bridge that he wouldn’t be able to pass under.

Police report that Sosa began backing his trailer into the parking lot of the Delaware County Jail to turn around when a northbound 2005 Chevy Impala driven by Mark Noonan, 64, of Kilbourne collided with the trailer of the truck.

A passenger in the backseat of the Impala, Christian Halley, 43, of Delaware, was killed in the collision and pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger in the Impala, Angie Erhart, 45, of Burkesville, Kentucky, was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital for treatment.

Noonan was transported via MedFlight to Grant Medical Center.

Sosa was not injured in the crash.

Police report the crash is still under investigation and no charges had been filed Friday.

Additionally, police report that Halley was not wearing a seat-belt at the time of the crash. Traffic on U.S. 42 was reportedly snarled until police cleared the scene at 1:08 a.m.
