Local Wendy’s stores welcome veterans

The Delaware Wendy’s restaurants hosts a monthly meet and greet with Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 1095.

Meet and greet takes place the Fourth Tuesday of each month at all three Delaware Wendy’s from 5 to 8 p.m. VVA 1095 receives a percentage of the profits during that time frame.

Franchise owner Joe Curran aid it is one small way he can help give back to the veteran community. Veterans from VVA1095 staff all three Wendy’s with greeters. It is an opportunity for them to share their experiences and hopefully help other veterans, a news release states.

In January; Rosie, a K-9 veteran comfort dog was added as a greeter. Not only does she comfort veterans, she loves children and they love her. VVA1095 member George Chambers is Rosie’s handler. Rosie spends 45 minutes at each restaurant; starting at the south Wendy’s (by Kroger), then going to south Sandusky Street, and finishing up at the Wendy’s in front of the BMV on US 23 North.

Curran also has the Wendy’s franchises in Marion and Mount Gilead, where he works with veterans organizations there. Veterans and senior citizens can get free drinks, including coffee, at all these restaurants, at any time; no purchase necessary.
