Morrow Little Theatre announces lineup

Last year at this time the curtain went up in Morrow County, literally, on a new home for Morrow Little Theatre when members announced that they have acquired a new home for their community theater at 102 East Main Street in Cardington.

After a year in their new home, Morrow Little Theatre staff and crew are ready for their second season.

Opening the season in April will be a Neil Simon comedy, The Good Doctor, a series of short plays, based on short stories and other works of Russian writer Anton Chekhov, framed by a writer making comments on them.

During The Good Doctor, an unnamed writer, supposedly Chekhov himself, suffers from writer’s block and his own artistic temperament as he narrates to the audience several of his stories.

Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 7, and Saturday, April 8; and a matinee performance on at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 9.

Tickets are $10 for adults; $8 for students. Call 740-244-3758 for tickets, or purchase tickets at the door.

Beauty and the Beast is coming to Morrow Little Theatre in July; Nunsense is the fall, 2017 offering; and White Christmas is slated for December.

There will also be a Children’s Workshop in April. Visit for additional details.

MLT business manager Sally Kilburn said a group of friends that were tired of driving to Bucyrus, Galion, Mansfield, Marion and further just to be in live stage productions, started MLT in 2009.

“Joey Powell and Ken Barnett started working on the idea for the structure of the company and began to really see what worked and did not work for other theater companies,” said Kilburn said. “In December of 2010, they held what would soon become MLT’s signature event, Christmas in the Village.”

Kilburn said that first year was a huge success and since then, MLT has produced shows like Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland; Tintypes; The Wizard of OZ; and Scapino!

Morrow Little Theater christened their new building with a 2016 season that featured Pirates of Penzance; Steel Magnolias; and Oklahoma!
