Ohio Living Sarah Moore’s Rehab Center dedicated

Aric Arnett said he was taken aback that there was no space for short-term patients at the Ohio Living Sarah Moore facility, 26 N. Union St., when he arrived in 2014.

The executive director with the support of his team ventured into plans to dedicate space into a Rehab Center for patients that typically stay for about two weeks. Construction of the $1 million-invested center, which started in October, was recently completed.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Tuesday.

“It’s better for them,” Arnett said in reference to rehab guests. They eventually “all want to go home,” he said.

Located on the second floor, the new center offers 19 private and semi-private suites with private baths and walk-in showers. Each room is about an average of 250 square feet. Additionally, the therapy gym was moved from the basement and includes a virtual rehabilitation platform, which utilizes motion capture technology to engage patients in fun games, while assessing joint mobility and progress.

Guests can enjoy chef-prepared meals in the new dining room, as well as daily activities and access to all of Ohio Living Sarah Moore’s amenities, according to a news release.

The community’s experienced therapy team will provide individualized one-on-one care to help patients recovering from an injury, illness or surgery establish and meet their recovery goals.

“We have seen an increasing need for rehabilitation services and are proud to offer this well-appointed rehab center to meet the needs of the community,” Arnett said. “The spacious suites provide the ideal setting for recovery, while our specially-trained therapists, utilizing the latest equipment and techniques, can help patients regain function and quality of life.”

The facility continues to provide assisted living care, short-and long-term skilled nursing and hospice care to the community as they have done so, in one form or another, for nearly 125 years. Sarah Moore joined the Columbus-based Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Services in 2014.
