How do I learn a new language? How do I organize my personal finances? How do I make a delicious meal for my family?

You might come to the library and check out a book to find the answers to these questions. You might also take advantage of one of our online learning resources like Transparent Language Online or a digital issue of Rachael Ray Every Day magazine. However, in two weeks, you might take the opportunity to learn about these issues and more in person from a local expert.

On Saturday, Nov. 3, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., the Delaware County District Library will host our first-ever “How-To Festival” at the Orange and Ostrander branch libraries. It’s never too late to learn a new skill, and DCDL is spending a whole day devoted to trying something new.

Nearly two dozen “how-to” sessions will take place at both library locations throughout the day for curious minds of all ages. Sessions will last anywhere from 25 to 45 minutes, and individuals are welcome to attend as few or as many as they’d like. It’s fun for the whole family with mini-programs like “How to Practice Yoga” for kids, “How to Write a Short Story” for teens, and “How to Make Your Own BBQ Sauce” for adults.

See the full list of “how-to” sessions at www.delawarelibrary.org/howto or stop by the Orange or Ostrander branch and pick up your “How-To Festival” brochure with all the details. Listed below are a few highlights of the day, along with what time, when and where they take place.
