‘Music with the Stars’ set for Saturday

The Delaware Music Boosters will host its annual “Music with the Stars” event this Saturday in downtown Delaware to raise money for the choir and orchestra programs at Delaware City Schools.

This year, the theme for the event is “Night at the Movies,” and it will feature vocal and orchestral performances from Pacer music alumni. The event will be held at Gather, located at 53 N. Sandusky St. in Delaware, from 7-9 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at delawaremusicboosters.seatyourself.biz.

Sara Anderson, the president of the music boosters, said the movie theme will make the show fun.

“My favorite part of the show is seeing how talented our alumni are and also how great the Delaware music community is when they come out to support our students this way,” Anderson said.

She added this is the fifth year for the event, which is the boosters’ primary fundraiser for the year, and the funds from tickets sales, donations, and the event’s silent auction will “help fund all aspects of the choir, orchestra, and theatre programs at Hayes and at Dempsey.”

“We offer scholarships for graduating seniors who are continuing their education in music, as well as funding new uniforms, competition fees, and whatever other emergencies may come up,” Anderson said. “It is also a wonderful opportunity for current music students to see what kind of future in music is available to them.”

Anderson said the event has something for everyone.

“They can expect a fun evening with our master of ceremonies, Judge David Hejmanowski, and great music in an amazing performance space,” Anderson said. “We will have light refreshments, and we will also be having one of our best silent auctions yet with, among other items, a chance to bid on Hamilton tickets and merchandise, a dinner for eight catered by Chef’s Table, a photo session with Periwinkle Photography, an Ibanez acoustic guitar donated by Delaware Music Academy, season theatre passes for both Hayes and Dempsey shows this year, passes for Glenross Golf Club and Golf Club of Dublin, plus a number of gift cards and baskets from local businesses such as The Strand Theatre, Tiny House Vintage, Honey & Abernathy and Beanbag Books.”
