Liberty moves into 1st-place tie with UA

The Olentangy Liberty boys golf team clipped Upper Arlington by a single stroke, carding a combined 312 to win the third OCC-Central Division match of the season Wednesday at Denison Golf Club.

With the win, the Patriots move into a first-place tie with the Golden Bears. Both are now 13-2 in league play.

Jackson Harris and Carter Rutherford led Olentangy Liberty, carding rounds of 74 and 75 to finish second and third, respectively. Holden Orofino also finished in the top five among individuals, firing a 78 to finish tied for fourth. Noah Andry also contributed to the win, finishing with an 85.

Olentangy Orange was also in action, finishing fifth with a 350. Ryan Ruggieri led the Pioneers with an 84 while Colin Dustin was one stroke behind him with an 85.

UA’s Brady Catalano nabbed medalist honors with a 72.

OCC-Capital Division

Big Walnut finished second at the third OCC-Capital Division showdown of the season, closing with a combined 330 Wednesday at Darby Creek.

Nate Tripp led the Golden Eagles with a 78.

Worthington Kilbourne, the only team ahead of BW in the team standings, won the event with a 311.

Delaware Hayes, led by Dylan Thomas’ 82, carded a combined 348. Other Pacer scorers included Owen Jester (88), Nate Richardson (88) and Parker Steffanni (90).

BOYS SOCCER

J.P. Seliskar scored to cut the Buckeye Valley deficit in half early in the second half, but host Wellington hung on to notch a 2-1 MSL-Ohio win Wednesday night in Columbus.

Sam Otto finished with nine saves in the BV goal.

FROM TUESDAY

Jasmine Proper did a little of everything, collecting 17 assists, 14 digs and seven aces to lead the Delaware Christian girls volleyball team to a three-set win over visiting Madison Christian Tuesday night in Delaware.

The Eagles won the first set 25-8 before taking the next two 25-9 and 25-23 to smooth out the scoring summary.

Bekah Williams led the attack with 17 kills to go with 15 digs. Other standouts included Payton Eversole, who had a match-best 16 digs; and Ellie Tiede, who had 11 digs, seven kills and three aces in the win.
