Members of the Ostrander Senior Citizens and the Ostrander Civic Association hosted the annual Firemen’s Appreciation Dinner on Tuesday, Aug. 30, in the community room at the fire station in Ostrander to honor the members of the Ostrander-Scioto Township Fire Department.

Nearly 70 people enjoyed the meal prepared and served by the two groups. The senior citizens have hosted this dinner for many years and was excited to welcome the Ostrander Civic Association as co-sponsors for the first time this year.

Fire Chief Marvin McIntire presented an update of fire department activities, showing equipment, and reporting on training details as well as future plans for the department. Ostrander Senior Citizens treasurer Bill Byers presented a check to the group to use for association needs and activities.

The dinner is one of the major projects of the year for Ostrander Senior Citizens. The group also provides scholarships for Buckeye Valley graduates who live in Scioto Township. In addition, the seniors group is a major financial supporter of the Ostrander fireworks each Fourth of July.

Adults 55 years old and up are welcome to join this active group. To find information about meetings and events, consult the Ostrander Senior Citizens Facebook page.
