Leighty tosses no-hitter as Pacers cruise past Irish

The Delaware Hayes softball team broke things open with a four-run second inning and never looked back, cruising to a 10-1 win over visiting Dublin Scioto Monday night.

Bronwynn Leighty led the Pacers (11-4-1) from the dish, finishing 2-for-4 with three RBI. Grace Singleton, Zee Brown and Lexi McCabe knocked in a pair of runs apiece while Kami Pelletier-Harris had a team-high three hits and scored three times.

As good as Leighty was at the plate, she was even better in the pitcher’s circle, tossing a no-hitter despite surrendering an unearned run. She struck out 15 and walked three.

Buckeye Valley 10, Bexley 1

The Barons (8-5) jumped on the Lions early, scoring two runs in the first and four in the second to gain some separation on the way to a convincing CBL win Monday night in Bexley.

Zoee Inglish had three hits to lead the way while Sophia Richards and Audrey Condit finished with two apiece.

Hayden Allen earned the complete-game win in the circle, allowing a run on three hits while striking out nine and walking three.

Olentangy Berlin 8, Dublin Jerome 0

The Bears set the tone with four runs in the top of the first and the pitching and defense took over after that en route to a win over the Celtics Monday night in Dublin.

Ava Kresak finished 3-for-4 at the dish with a homer, four RBI and a couple runs scored. Paige Miles also had a big night, finishing with three hits of her own.

Addy DeVito and Grace Kemper handled the rest, combining on a four-hit shutout while the Berlin (8-7) defense played errorless ball behind them.

Olentangy 11, Hilliard Darby 8

The Braves won their fourth straight game Monday, scoring a combined nine runs in the first two innings on the way to an OCC win over the host Panthers.

Olentangy (11-5) used a four-run first to set the tone and and a five-run second to create some separation.

Darby battled back, answering an Olentangy run in the fourth with six in the bottom half, but couldn’t get much closer than that.

Evelyn Dipiero, Nola Tracy and Addi Hulshof led the Braves, who had 17 hits when all was said and done, with three hits apiece. Grace Yanez also had a nice night, finishing with two hits and a team-high three RBI while Kai Cornelius and Petra Dissett each finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Abi Custodio got the win in the circle, allowing six runs, two earned, on seven hits while striking out four and walking one in four innings of work.

Olentangy Orange 5, Upper Arlington 2

The Pioneers answered two early runs from the visiting Golden Bears with one in the bottom of the first and three in the second to take control on the way to an OCC-Central Division win Monday night in Lewis Center.

Madison Yanka had a team-best two hits while Kennedy Reed knocked in a pair of runs for Orange (9-5).

Gauri Naik earned the complete-game win in the circle, allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits while striking out 10 and walking just one.

Also: Westerville North 8, Big Walnut 1; Hilliard Bradley 3, Olentangy Liberty 2.
