The Delaware Hayes girls swimming and diving team picked up a solid win in its home pool Saturday, collecting 299 points to headline the seven-team event.
Watkins Memorial finished second with 168 points while Liberty Union (130), Newark Catholic (88), Village Academy (74), Buckeye Valley (28) and Newark (22) smoothed out the scoring summary.
Pacer winners included the 200 yard medley relay team (Lindsey Pollock, Valerie Keller, Natalie Johnson and Megan Rumbalski), which nabbed first-place points in 2:06.71; and the 400 freestyle relay team (Hannah Weller, Megan Rice, Kelly Godfrey and Brooke Glesenkamp), which won its event in 4:10.65. Marisa Sulek, meanwhile, won the 50 freestyle (26.98 seconds) while Helen Thomson earned the top spot in the 1-meter diving event (148.20).
Other area standouts included Buckeye Valley’s Colleen Jaycox, who won the 200 IM in 2:19.22 and 100 backstroke in 1:02.54; and Village Academy’s Sheridan Ave, who won the 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle in respective times of 1:00.11 and 5:37.40.
In boys’ action, Hayes finished second with 180 points. Watkins Memorial won the event with 249 points while Liberty Union (48), Newark Catholic (44), Buckeye Valley (42) and Newark (32) rounded out the list of team scores.
The Pacers’ top point producers included Kael Gannon, who won the 100 butterfly (59.90 seconds); Craig Klumpp, who took top honors in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.79); the 200 freestyle relay team (Craig Klumpp, Andrew Sarna, Thomas Meehan and Lance Kriesch), which won in 1:52.00; and the 400 freestyle relay team (Thomas Blackwood, Matt Hanks, Ethan Hall and Noah Planisek), which secured first-place points in 3:41.59.
Buckeye Valley’s Jacob Coy also made some noise, winning the 1-meter diving event (189.25).
