Amidst the tragic chaos that consumes our hearts and minds these days, our nation and world are blessed to have the clear, competent, courageous, calm diplomacy of President Joseph Biden and his staff in charge of our international relations.

Mental Illness Awareness Week is an annual national public education campaign led by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) intended to raise awareness about mental health and provide support and treatment options for mental health conditions. On the heels of October’s event, I’d like to invite your readers to learn more about psychosis and early psychosis intervention.

At about 5 a.m. Friday, when I couldn’t get back to sleep, I realized that I remember a whole day from 70 years ago! I remember where I lived, what I wore to school that day, where I had lunch, and so forth for the entire day. Wow, it’s shocking to me that I can remember that far back!

I know that many of our patrons include a stop to the library in their holiday and travel plans, so I wanted to be sure to let readers know that all locations of the Delaware County District Library will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22, and remain closed through the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, Nov. 23. Branches reopen with their regular operating hours on Friday, Nov. 24.

The Symphony’s first concert of the 2023-24 season, performed on Oct. 21, was a fabulous success on multiple fronts. There was the orchestra and the music, of course, but the event also served as the occasion to greet Ohio Wesleyan University’s new president, Matt P. vandenBerg, and his family to the community as well as to celebrate the 45-year-long partnership with the university and highlight the strong town-gown relationship that has existed for over 180 years.
