Over the past several weeks, I discussed Galileo’s contribution to the 17th century conflict between two world views — the old view that Earth was at the center of the cosmos and the burgeoning belief that the sun was at the center.

Delaware County needs a new treasurer.

People say we’ve gotten a mentality, but what does it really mean? If it’s an attitude where you are helping and reaching out and loving one another — but I don’t see it that way. I see people justifying being mean to each other, using words like “I’ll never support this one” and “I’ve never supported that one, and those that support them don’t need any help, because it would be better if they had never been put on this earth.”

We’ve been hearing feedback from our Delaware County District Library patrons over the last several weeks, and we know that you love the DCDL Maker Studios. These do-it-yourself design spaces, located at the Delaware and Liberty branches, are the home to specialized equipment like 3D printers, vinyl cutters, laser engravers, sewing machines, wide format printers, and more.

They’re back! Telltale cones of mud in your lawn are a signal that mole season is upon us, and if you do nothing, moles will take over your entire yard. Doing nothing is not an option. Over the years we’ve tried numerous ways to eliminate moles from our lawns, from traps of various kinds to the trusty 12-guage, and only one has actually made a real difference.

When I think of those who serve our community, I often first think of my own staff. I am extremely proud of the individuals who work in my office and fight every day for the justice of Delaware County. I also think of how consistently my staff members support and uplift each other. The work our office does can sometimes be grueling and exhausting, but I see my staff holding one another up every single day. Regardless of what each of them have going on in their lives, they show up for each other in all of the important ways!
